Nursing Home Abuse and Neglect

Despite our advanced and educated society, we must realize how poorly we perform in one significant area of our lives compared to many other parts of the world.  That area is caring for our aging loved ones.  We all know the statistics that show how our baby boomer generation is graying and in need of assistance.  Those statistics should scare us as our society is woefully unprepared for the population needs of our aging parents and grandparents.

Many families are faced with placement of a loved one in a long term care facility, either nursing home, assisted living facility, personal care home, or other senior living arrangement.  What the families expect from that placement and what they receive from the institution are often polar opposites.   Our practice has championed the cause of the injured or deceased family member.  Our hope is that through the litigation process, we can bring about a change in the mindset of the long term care industry.  Not only do we want accountability for the wrongs that our clients have endured, we want to see a shift in the focus of the industry from the profit margin to the care required to make the last years, months, or days of their resident as pleasant and pain-free as possible.  That is certainly not the focus at this time.

From pressure sores to falls, our firm has pursued the most egregious cases against the corporations that control the long term care industry.  We have seen dehydration, malnutrition, asphyxiation, assaults, and more.  These cases cry out for an experienced attorney to challenge the homes to account for their actions and to challenge them to change their ways.
