James W. "Jay" Clements, III

Attorney

After graduating from Middle Tennessee State University in 1985, Mr. Clements pursued his legal education from the University of Tennessee. He received his Doctor of Jurisprudence from U.T. in 1988. Mr. Clements is admitted to practice before all state and federal courts in Tennessee and Georgia. He is an active member of the:

  • Association of Trial Lawyers of America
  • American Bar Association
  • Tennessee Trial Lawyers Association
  • Georgia Trial Lawyers Association
  • Chattanooga Bar Association.

Mr. Clements was nominated for Pro Bono Attorney of the year in 2006 for the Chattanooga Bar Association for his volunteer service to that association.

Mr. Clements has engaged in a general litigation practice in Chattanooga, Tennessee since 1988 representing plaintiffs in car wrecks, social security claims, and workers compensation claims. In 1995, he pursued his first claim against a long term care facility on behalf of a family who lost a loved one. Since that claim, he has steadily and consistently increased his caseload for those victims who are the most vulnerable in our society - senior citizens living in long term care facilities such as nursing homes, assisted living facilities, and personal care homes. To date, the firm has recovered millions of dollars for the victims and families of abuse and neglect.

In addition to assisting victims and family members in pursuit of their claims, Mr. Clements frequently speaks at churches and healthcare facilities on issues relating to elder law and the need to plan for our aging and potential disability. He serves as a deacon at Bayside Baptist Church. He and his wife, Lisa, live in Ooltewah with their three children, Drew, Reid, and Caroline.
